About Me

I recently moved from Edinburgh to Skye, and not so recently from other places. I write, I read and I live quite happily with my husband, our daughter, lots of books, a few fish, and computers called Hemingway, Truman, and Frank. Β  I’m 36, and I happen to be a wheelchair-user.

  1. Lorna,

I’m an OLD friend of your Dad’s from high school and have always done what he told me to do – so here I am. I too have a cat (Mollie) who things she’s a dog – she fetches and everything – and am vehemently not a cat person. I just have a cat! It’s a pleasure to meet you and I look forward to reading your blogs regularly. If you’re dad says your wonderful then you must be!

    1. Hello Marjory!

Nice to meet you, too! Dad speaks highly of you and I’m glad you’ll be reading me! Also glad to hear from a non-cat person who has a cat! I was actually afraid of them until CJ and her Mom before her, decided to keep me as her Human!

  2. Please don’t think I’m being rude to ask this because I mean it in the nicest possible way! I don’t like to upset people by accident 😦 Have you always been in your wheelchair — like, as a child? Or was it an accident when you were a bit older? Sorry if that was nosy. I’m a very curious person.

  3. Oh, just a quick note to say that I’ve posted that NaNo pep-talk thing that I promised! If you wanted to read it, it’s up there looking scarily long πŸ˜€

  4. Hello!

I saw that you recently subscribed to me on Blipfoto – I clicked on your userinfo and that led me to here! I’m looking forward to getting to know you online through your writing and photos! πŸ™‚

  5. Okay. you live in SCOTLAND!? holy crapballs

I spend a semester in London studying abroad… traveled a lot around Europe, but never made it there… dying to go. Just scared to travel right n0w with all the craziness going on the world!

So glad you stopped by my blog… can’t wait to get to know you better =)

  6. Hey, just to say thanks for your blog posts because your views on people’s opinions of wheelchair users have been absolutely invaluable in writing recently, since I’ve got a character who ended up partly paralysed after book two and is now in a wheelchair! (No one ever said I was nice to my characters) I may have lifted some quotes directly from your posts… so if I’m ever published I’ll be sure to give you credit, hee hee!

    1. Hello!

Sarge (my Boyfriend) is highly allergic to the cat, I’m sure he’d be happy to ship her to a good home!

Welcome to the craziness. Glad I found you and your blog!

  7. Hello, we just started following each others Twits (I’m Songspirit). Nice to see a friendly (kind of local) face around here, with around the same level of craziness I seem to display on occasion…..must be a Scottish thing. Loved your post about Mull – we went there and its fab. Glad you enjoyed it! We have a dog called Molly (who doesn’t think she is a cat, but definately believes she is human….) Are you doing NaNoWriMo this year? I am and I have a blog to commit my progress to… http://imgonnawriteabook.blogspot.com/ if you want to have a look (at all of the TWO posts I have there right now!)

  8. Hi Lorna! Thanks for following my blog. I have two kittens, and I think one of them has a multiple personality disorder. He likes dirty socks, the kitchen sponge, and my English Setter’s wagging tail. In other words, he likes to get sprayed with the water bottle when he gets into these things!

Anyway, I’m enjoying poking around your site and look forward to reading more of your posts!

  9. Hello, LKD, and thanks for joining the diabeticredemption.com family. I hope you’ll find my Friends page and tell me and my readers about yourself and your blog, including the URL. I’m very happy to have you on board! 😎

  10. Hey! I’m visiting from Sits! Nice to meet you! Would love to learn more about you. I’m sure you can offer lots of encouragement to those with disabilities and those like me who get discouraged. I think you should add a few more fun facts about yourself to make your about me a bit more snazzy.

  11. Nice to meet you, LKD, and thanks for visiting my site! (I’ll get back to Scotland in the blog eventually, though I did do a post on a wonderful Scottish puppet show.)
I like your blog’s title, and I love your twist. πŸ˜‰

  12. Hi there! I was surprised to see that a new person had stopped by my blog and I make sure to visit everyone that takes the time out for me πŸ™‚ so here I am and I followed after reading for ten minutes! Keep up the great work and thank you for stopping by so I could find you πŸ™‚

  13. Hi! Thank so very much for following my blog. I am doubly excited, because your visit brought me here, and I followed, too! I’m delighted to meet you πŸ™‚
I have a little dog who thinks she is a cat. Curls up on my lap whenever I sit down. I’d love a cat in the house too, but I am highly allergic. I don’t know how your boyfriend manages that!! Living with a cat, I’d be in a constant state of closed eyes and fits of sneezing. My doggie-cat is my allergy-free compromise.

  14. I love your blog name: Gin and Lemonade…sounds so yummy!
Just stopping in to say hey, and I appreciate your visit a few days ago…well, maybe more than a few…I think I need one of your drinks! πŸ™‚

  15. Thank you for following my blog. Though I am always grateful for followers, sometimes when I look up a new follower’s blog and bio, I can’t help going, “Oh dear, I don’t know whether I want to follow this person back.” But after reading a few lines of your blog, my reaction was, “Well, this is something I can look forward to reading.” Of course, it doesn’t hurt that your baby is gorgeous. Best to you.

  16. Hello! I just started blogging recently about my family’s experiences living in Costa Rica. I found your blog via a blogging101 search. I was intrigued by your blog name and look forward to reading more.

    1. Hello! Really must update this. Living on Skye now, but the husband and our nearly three year-old daughter and I miss Edinburgh every day. Nice to find you, too!

  17. Thank you for your interest in my blog. I really look forward to following yours. I love that you name inanimate objects. We do that at our house as well, although never computers. A computer name Hemingway is either something that is really working out for you or is a really bad thing!
